We are exploring innovations in rail ticketing through a trial of Digital Pay As You Go (DPAYG) technology. The trial tests a mobile app that allows participants to check in and out seamlessly using their smartphone.
The app uses your smartphone’s location information during travel to identify and log your journeys. At the end of the day, it calculates the right fare based on the journeys you made.

Use the barcode to get through the gates and/or upon request show it to the train staff. Use this button to bring it up instantly. Scanning your barcode has no impact on your fare. - Tap End to calculate the cost of your journey
Tap this button to finalize your journey costs. You'll only ever be charged for the distance you traveled. - Your Barcode

Once your journey is complete, you'll see a quick confirmation. Your final fare is typically calculated overnight, though it may occasionally take a little longer, but it will always be accurate.
